In February 2022, long-time Quebec-based lighting manufacturer Contrast/Contraste Lighting created shockwaves in the industry with the announcement that it had filed for bankruptcy protection in part due to on-going supply issues that began during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as financial repercussions from a vicious cyberattack.

Contrast/Contraste was a respected provider of architectural lighting products in North America since 1989 and was a frequent exhibitor at trade shows such as LightFair.

Liteline Corp., Canada’s largest independent, family-owned and operated lighting manufacturer, has purchased Contrast/Contraste and will be merging the product line with its own. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in a 160,000-sq.-ft. facility in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Liteline specializes in providing lighting products for architectural, commercial, industrial, and residential spaces.

“We are very excited to announce that Liteline has acquired Contraste Lighting,” read a statement released by co-Presidents Mark, Daniel, and Sarah Silverstein on August 22, 2022. “We are proud to be able to be continue to market this iconic Canadian Lighting brand. Contraste will be merged with Liteline and provide the opportunity to expand our product offering in Canada and the United States.”
