Industry leader Legrand has received Gold-Level LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its North American headquarters in West Hartford, Connecticut.

The third-party LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification program is recognized globally as the standard for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings and neighborhoods.

As an existing building seeking continued certification within this program, Legrand’s West Hartford facility – which includes offices, manufacturing, and warehouse operations – recently underwent a formal review process to determine the overall sustainability of its maintenance and operations. The USGBC evaluated the site using performance data from a variety of areas, including energy, water, waste, transportation and indoor environmental quality, before certifying it at the Gold level. This achievement marks the West Hartford facility as a showcase example of sustainability.

“At Legrand, we believe focusing on sustainability is our duty as a responsible business, as well as an opportunity to have a positive impact that benefits our employees, our customers and the global community,” said John Selldorff, President & CEO of Legrand, North and Central America. “Receiving the LEED Gold-Level Certification is a testament to the work we’ve done, and continue to do, to transition that belief into actions. Through effort, diligence and creativity, our teams keep finding ways to reduce carbon emissions and improve efficiency. We take great pride in this achievement and will use it as inspiration for our sustainability efforts going forward.”

In addition to the West Hartford site’s Gold certification, Legrand is a Platinum Member of the U.S. Green Building Council with dozens of LEED accredited associates on staff, helping to further extend the principles of green buildings throughout the organization’s various North and Central American facilities.
