Legrand Appoints Jane White as Chief Diversity & Engagement Officer

West Hartford, Conn.-based Legrand®, a global leader in electrical wiring devices and cable management solutions, has named Jane White as Chief Diversity & Engagement Officer for Legrand, North and Central America (LNCA). Most recently White has served as President of Finelite, a Legrand lighting company.

In this newly formed role on the LNCA CEO Executive Staff, White will lead efforts to foster a culture and environment that attracts, retains, and develops a diversely talented and highly engaged workforce. She will also work to ensure that company policies, management practices, recruitment, training, and communications are all aligned with Legrand’s values of Inclusive Leadership and Improving Lives.

Smith brings 25+ years of experience to her new position. She has held various roles, ranging from customer service to sales and marketing to business leadership. Since 1997, she has been a member of Finelite’s executive team that developed policies and programs that supported Finelite’s “Respect for People” value and was a charter member of the company’s Anti-Discrimination & Fairness Working Group. This led to the creation of LNCA’s Employee Resource Groups (ERG), which foster a culture of collaboration and inclusion across the organization and give underrepresented groups a platform for their voices to be heard. Smith has also been the Executive Sponsor for the Black Professional Network ERG and provided training on leading a diverse workforce for Elle, the ERG focused on empowering women professionals, and Legrand’s Leaders Engaged in Accelerated Performance (LEAP) manager training program. She has also been a member of LNCA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Executive Steering Committee which she will now chair.

“Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Employee Engagement are priorities for us at Legrand. They are core parts of our Corporate Social Responsibility Roadmap and our values. This is why we created this leadership position to work with our team to drive these important initiatives. Jane’s business leadership experience, most recently as president of our Finelite lighting company, will help tailor our programs to be as impactful and effective as they can be in supporting our diverse culture,” said John Selldorff, President & CEO, Legrand, North and Central America.
